Sadiq Khan elections proves Londoners will not surrender to the language of fear
The election of Sadiq Khan MP to be the first Muslim Mayor of London is a major milestone by Londoners to elect a candidate that ran a positive, honest campaign and was keen and proud to be a true Londoner who promised to fix the property problem and improve policing.
Sadiq Khan has been very clear about his background as a working class Londoner with a humble beginning and how he strived to make it to the top job in London. Which resonated well with people who have seen him compete against privileged candidates while they are facing job insecurity and economic hardships.
I would like to see the new mayor to fix the disconnect between all Londoners and do more to allay the fears of the large Muslim population who have been the subject of huge attacks and ridicule by ignorant politicians and the media. We are all Londoners, black or white, Jewish or Muslims, Arab or English, and we have been living and making a huge contribution to improve our beautiful city.
The right wing language of fear, hatred and division in the UK, Europe and the US must be buried once and for all. We have to be respected and be given credit for all of our contribution in building a strong, vibrant and dynamic economy, which is the envy of the developing world.
Diversity and multiculturalism is what made London and the UK Great and Londoners will not allow anyone to take this away from us be it politicians or the media.
