Ethnic TV rating war intensifies

The recent ethnic TV figures in the UK shows the 4 leading TV channels vying for the top 4 slots and they are in order:

Star Plus

AlJazeera English

UMP Movies

Rishty

The rating shows that AlJazeera is closely behind Star and making a strong challenge for Star.

In the battle to improve ratings Viacom announced that Colors will be going free to air as of September 2013, a move which will certainly see other network following suit in a bid to increase their viewers numbers and be able to charge advertisers higher rates.

Zee on the other hand is coming with few other channels to target Asian and non Asian audiences in the UK.

On the radio side BBC Asian Network audience nudged ahead of Sunrise radio for the 2nd quarter in succession.
